This award-winning rendition of the Pinot Gris from the Wahluke Slope AVA of Washington State balances the delicate fruit flavors from the more familiar wine, Pinot Grigio, with more balanced acidity of a late harvest wine. An excellent addition to any wine list.
Aromatically this Pinot Gris provides notes of peaches and apricots for a more luscious presentation of this white wine variety. As the white wine transitions to the palate it introduces continued stone fruit elements with notes of honey and a touch of honeysuckle in the mid-palate while continuing through to a crisp and clean finish.
Wahluke Slope, WA
100% stainless steel aged, 4 months
Scampi style bay scallops, chicken francese and mild cheeses
The Wahluke Slope AVA is situated 45 minutes north of Yakima Valley wine country and is nestled in the hip of the Yakima River. The river provides a cooler climate to the vineyards of the Wahluke Slope allowing the variety of wine from this region to retain vibrant acidity which is especially crucial for Alsatian wine varieties such as Pinot Gris and other popular wines. The pinkish-gray hue to the Pinot Grigio grapes causes the color of the juice to transition between white, pink and even oranges during the wine making process, with orange becoming more pronounced after more exposure to the grapes skins as with other skin contact wine.
