What’s the Buzz About Pink Wine?

There’s a reason pink wine—also known as rosé wine, blush wine, or even just “a bottle of joy”—continues to dominate the American wine market. With its playful hue and crowd-pleasing balance between fruity flavors, floral notes, and crisp acidity levels, pink wine has evolved into a versatile wine style beloved by connoisseurs and casual sippers alike.

At Cellar Beast Winehouse, pink wine isn’t an afterthought—it’s an art form. Every glass evokes the aromas of summer fruits, from sun-ripened strawberries to hints of wild cherry and peach blossom. Whether you’re toasting at a wedding, lounging on the patio, or pairing with spicy foods, our rosé-style wines are designed to delight year-round. Buy Pink Wine or book a guided wine tasting today!

What is Pink Wine?

Rosé, blush, and pink wine are terms that refer to the same category of wine—one crafted from black-skinned grapes(often Syrah, Pinot Noir, or Cabernet Franc), but with limited maceration time. This brief contact during winemaking with the grape skins is what imparts that stunning pale pink or salmon color.

Common Winemaking Methods:

  • Direct Press / Limited Skin Contact: The most common method for making roses. We use this wine production method at Cellar Beast for some larger batch rosé wines. Wine grapes, such as Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, are gently pressed, and the juice is quickly separated from the skins, preserving the fruit's purity.
  • Saignée Method: A more intense style, where rosé wine is “bled off” from red fermentations to concentrate both wines. It's a technique we occasionally employ for limited lots. Cellar Beast employs this method for smaller release batches, such as Sans Titre.
  • Blending White and Red Wine: While rare and discouraged in premium pink wine circles, this alternative method is sometimes used for entry-level or mass-market rosés (like early White Zinfandels and Sutter Home offerings).

We never blend already-made white wine with red. Instead, we showcase the full potential of each variety of grape, using classic French-style winemaking techniques that elevate both the fruit and the story behind each vintage.

Pink Wine Flavor Profiles

Pink wine is as diverse as the types of grapes that go into it. Our wines range from dry rosé wines with citrus zest and minerals to rosé wines with sweeter wine tendencies—a touch of residual sugar for roundness and softness.

Notable Cellar Beast Rosé Wines:

  • 2024 Pinot Noir Rosé (Airfield Vineyard, Yakima Valley) – Bursting with flavors of strawberry, watermelon rind, and cherry blossom. A stunning expression of grape varieties with a brilliant balance of acidity.
  • Cabernet Franc Rosé (Meek Vineyard) – Deeper color and savory edge, with hints of wild cherry and white pepper. A colorful rosé wine perfect for grilled fare.
  • Blanc de Noir – From Pinot Noir grapes, crafted to be ethereal. Pale salmon hue with flavors of rose water, stone fruit, and minerals.

Whether you lean toward a sweeter wine or love a bone-dry finish, our collection reflects the beauty of rosé wine sweetness charts—balanced, expressive, and never cloying.

Perfect Pairings for Pink Wine

Thanks to its bright fruit flavors, soft acidity, and touch of tannin from black grapes, pink wine pairs effortlessly with:

  • Seafood: Grilled shrimp, seared scallops, sushi
  • Savory & Spicy Foods: Thai curry, prosciutto-wrapped melon
  • Vegetarian Fare: Grilled eggplant, couscous, tomato tart
  • Summer Picnic Staples: Brie and baguette, strawberries with balsamic glaze, cake with strawberries
